SEEKING - Drawing the Journey
“What is it we hope to achieve? Or obtain?
Maybe solace? Or comfort in a sense of home? Or shelter in faith beyond ourselves? Or perhaps, a path forward in uncertain times?
Sometimes, it's tangible, other times abstract. All the while, it lies in front of us, driving us forward—except for those times when it rests behind us, forever out of reach, alive now only in our minds.
If we are lucky enough to hold it, does it sustain us? Or does all we seek fall through our fingers, and the whole quest begin anew?
I am not exempt from the turbulent undulations of the journey. As a figurative artist, the pursuit drives me into the studio.
Where, to the best of my ability, my drawings push and pull values with gentle layering to document or allude to a narrative already there. Because the dirt, the tears, the pain, the love, and the hope we carry on this quest is our story. Much of it is beautiful—but all of it deserves to be remembered.”
